Providence Center for Photographic Arts presents Unseen: Photography Beyond the Visible a jurored exhibit of works by the artists who have found creative expression within non-visible wavelengths. Artists who utilize infrared, IR filters, false color, ultraviolet, multi-spectral, and thermographic technology — in digital, film, and post-processes — are invited to participate.

While Unseen is an exhibit limited to non-visible spectrum images, the evaluation of images by the jurors centers on artistic vision. We want to introduce our audience to another means of creative expression where technique is secondary in making selections. Unseen embraces photo-media artists, experimenters, and those who dare to stretch artistic boundaries into a truly different kind of light. $1000 in prizes.

Verum Ultimum Gallery is thrilled to invite artists to explore, "The Living Mark" for the fourth annual exhibit of this theme and enter work that is any interpretation of the call. They don't seek to drive the work, they only hope to discover your unique vision and showcase it.  ALL MEDIUMS are welcome (painting, mixed media, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramic,  textile, and more). Mark making is an integral part of the creative process and the evidence of the artist’ hand is always exciting to see.  The most successful works seem to be enlivened by these marks (whether abstract or representational).   This call emphasizes the process with a focus on the individual style of the art maker (whether impassioned, studied, or subdued).  What kind of marks and/or mediums do you use to lead to great results?  What is your personal interpretation of this metaphoric or symbolic vehicle, “The Living Mark”.  How do you use the Living Mark in your work?  We welcome the chance to review the mark you make with your medium. This exhibition will run for throughout month of May.

2017 Boulder Plein Air Festival, Boulder, Colorado
June 11-18, 2017
Notification Date: April 12, 2017

Join us for a week of plein air painting in scenic Boulder, Colorado! We invite you to venture beyond the city of Boulder to the surrounding mountains, and the entire Boulder Valley area. This is a painter’s paradise: amazing open space and mountains, vistas, a scenic downtown, farms, meadows, and more!

Hosted by Open Studios Boulder, this event has been created as an opportunity for artists to showcase their skills and highlight the beauty of the Boulder area. As an alternative to other plein air festivals that derive their funding primarily from the sale of artwork at the festival, we have opted to charge a nominal fee for participating artists and, in turn, created an opportunity for artists to retain the majority of the sale price of their work. 85% of sales revenue from the culminating exhibit will be paid to the artists. Open Studios will retain 15% of sales to help cover the costs of displays, staffing the exhibit and credit card fees from sales. We hope this will create an environment where artists will realize greater financial benefit from participation in the Boulder Plein Air Festival.

Best in Show, Best Cityscape, Best Landscape, Best Non-Traditional Plein Air, Purchase Awards
