The Ann Arbor Art Center, on behalf of the City of Ann Arbor, seeks three artist designs that will be selected to be produced on manhole covers throughout a six-year production schedule. Blue Sky established the Pacific Northwest Photography Viewing Drawers (“the Drawers”) program in 2007 to feature a juried public archive of original prints by contemporary photographers based in the region. Visitors to Blue Sky’s galleries in Portland are welcome to enjoy work in the Drawers by simply opening any one of the archival flatfiles, or by asking at the Front Desk for assistance. Originally constructed in 1890, the Wyoming State Capitol building was closed to the public in 2016 and is currently undergoing a largescale renovation (Capitol Square Project) that is slated for completion in spring of 2019. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark.

The central rotunda of the Capitol contains four niches on the third level that are visible from all levels of the rotunda. The State of Wyoming is seeking four human figure based, cast bronze or carved stone sculptures for the niches that are allegorical and based on Wyoming attributes and values.

MOFSA, the Marianne Oberg Foundation for Spiritual Art (www.mofsa.org) is a new nonprofit organization located in Charlotte, NC, whose mission is to inspire, encourage and support the creation of spiritual art. We pursue our educational mission through grants to artists and exhibits of spiritual art.

We are delighted to announce our first grant program for artists who see the world from a spiritual perspective and who seek to express their view of the transcendent in their artwork. The recipient should already have some body of work in this direction and a desire to create more. The recipient will be awarded a $10,000 grant to be presented at the opening of an exhibit of Spiritual Art at the Awaken Gallery in Mount Holly, NC in September, 2018. The grant recipient will create a new work to be unveiled at the exhibit.

The City of Sandpoint’s newest roundabout is situated near the northern edge of Sandpoint city limits, at the intersection of Boyer and Schweitzer Cutoff roads. It is a connection between many different cultural, industrial and recreational opportunities. This intersection provides access to the industrial business areas surrounding the Sandpoint Airport, shopping and dining in neighboring City of Ponderay, community events at the Bonner County Fairgrounds and recreational activities at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. 

The Sandpoint Arts Commission seeks vibrant public art for installation at this gateway to Sandpoint. A successful proposal will reflect the multi-use nature of the location as well as the city’s love for its pristine land and water. The allowable budget for artists is up to, but no more than, $90,000. Included in this budget are artist’s fee, travel, fabrication, engineering, materials, documentation, installation, lighting and all other costs accrued by the artist specific to this Call to Artists.

The Artist in Residence program offers professional artists of all kinds the opportunity to pursue their art in the premier wilderness setting of Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve.  Writers, composers, two and three-dimensional visual artists, photographers, digital artists, filmmakers, and artisans are all encouraged to apply.

The residency lasts approximately two weeks.  This includes several days in Bettles, Alaska to pack and prepare for the trip, eight days in the back country and then a few days for the artist to prepare and give a community program about their experience.   The artist will accompany park staff on a working back country patrol in July, August or early September and will be expected to participate in the working aspects of the patrol.  Patrols may accommodate the artist to a certain extent, but artists must be both physically fit enough to attempt such a journey and also possess the skills and experience for extended rigorous wilderness travel.

Community Foundation of the Lowcountry’s 2018 Public Art Exhibition on Hilton Head Island seeks proposals for large‐scale outdoor sculpture engaged in a contemporary conversation about art within a natural environment. The 2018 theme "Envisioning Connections" is intended to inspire submissions that foster a sense of discovery, exploration, interaction, recreation, education and an element of surprise within the beauty of the Lowcountry region. Artists are encouraged to consider the theme both broadly and personally, and interpret connections that can be made around ideas such as: people and place, history and future, local and global, humanity and nature, and the material and ephemeral worlds. The year-long Art On The Green Sculpture Garden Exhibition at the Kemp Center for the Arts is in its 14th year.  This is the first year we will be opening the event to juried artwork rather than by invitation.    In addition to installation stipends, there will be three cash prizes awarded by the juror/judge at the time of installation.

Artwork is exhibited for 12 months. All forms of outdoor sculpture will be considered, provided it meets the requirements of the prospectus.  The exhibit space surrounds a large public building; artwork will be placed throughout the site at the sole discretion of the contracted installer and Arts Council staff.

Bass River Press seeks cover art for its third annual poetry publication. The winning artwork will be featured on the front cover of Deirdre Callanan’s poetry collection, Water-Dreaming, set to be released in the spring of 2018. Editor Angela Howes and Supervising Editor Lauren Wolk will review all submissions before sending a small group of finalists to Callanan, who will select the winning artwork.

Callanan’s work was chosen by poetry judge Lisa Starr as the winner of Bass River Press’ third  poetry competition. A small sample from her upcoming manuscript has been provided below. Please review the poems for inspiration, and cater your submission to the themes, language, and ideas presented there. Callanan will select the winning artwork based on its suitability to the poetry collection the artwork represents.
